Dr Akhtar is an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Warwick. She holds a PHD from Warwick, a Master of Laws in Human Rights from the University of Nottingham and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Leicester. Dr Akhtar is an academic researcher focussing on family and child law, and has held visiting academic posts in Australia, Qatar and South Africa.
She currently holds editorial positions on two academic journals, is a Fellow of Advance HE, and a qualified solicitor, having trained with international commercial law firm Eversheds LLP.
She was appointed Member of the Board of Trustees in October 2024.
